Antarctic II – UMAS System Upgrade
A full system upgrade was completed aboard the Antarctic II, replacing the old alarm, instrumentation and control systems.
Steps taken:
Working closely with international partners
System tailored to customer requirements
Installation to satisfaction of client and & DNV
L&M completed a full system upgrade of the ship’s alarm, instrumentation and control system onboard Antarctic II. With the existing UMAS system reaching end of life, L&M proposed a replacement Evolution V5 system in partnership with Marine Control Services A.S. Now the fourth vessel in the Shetland pelagic fleet to be equipped with Evolution V5, the Antarctic was able to benefit from various upgrades over the original system such as further integration and control of the ships RSW system, additional control station installation in the chief engineers cabin, remote monitoring on tablet and mobile and customised layouts of the various instrumentation mimics. The installation was successfully carried out to the satisfaction of DNV.
