What we Offer

L&M Engineering provides a full range of welding, fabrication, and machining services for marine, industrial, and commercial applications.

Our welders are fully skilled in MMA, MIG, and TIG processes, with the knowledge and experience to carry out precision work both in our purpose-built workshops and on-site. Whether it’s a replacement for a worn or discontinued part, a bespoke fabrication project, or an emergency repair, no job is too small – or too complex – for our team.

With comprehensive in-house facilities and mobile equipment, we can take any project from design and fabrication through to installation and commissioning.

Welding Services

Our fabricators use advanced MMA, MIG and TIG welding equipment to deliver high-quality fabrication in steel, stainless steel and aluminium.

We also maintain a full suite of portable welding systems – including oxy-acetylene sets, plasma cutters and road-tow welders – providing rapid on-site and onboard repair capability whenever required.

Welding has been a core discipline of L&M Engineering since the company’s inception, supporting the wider marine and industrial sectors while complementing our mechanical, electrical and fabrication trades.

Machining Services

Our workshop is equipped with a range of manual and CNC precision machining equipment, ensuring we always have the right tool for the job, whatever the project.

Our XYZ EMX 2-axis milling machine and RLX lathe, both operated via Prototrak CNC controllers, enable us to perform complex machining operations with accuracy and repeatability — whether recreating failed components or manufacturing new parts to specification.

Metal Cutting Equipment

We operate a CNC plasma cutting table capable of producing complex or custom designs with precision, handling sheets up to 2,500 × 1,250 mm and cutting thicknesses up to 25 mm.

Complementing this are our 2.5 m RVD CNC guillotine, Kingsland steelworker, and Bauer double-mitre bandsaw, allowing rapid and accurate cutting of heavier materials.

For site-based work, portable plasma cutters and oxy-acetylene systems enable efficient cutting operations to be carried out on-site or on-vessel when required.

Our workshop is also supported by extensive stockholding of aluminium, steel and stainless steel sheet, bar, and pipe, ensuring fast turnaround on both fabrication and repair projects.

Metal Bending Equipment

Our workshop is equipped with a 200-tonne Morgan Rushworth XPH hybrid CNC hydraulic press brake, capable of handling sheets up to 3,100 mm wide and producing precise, complex bends with consistent accuracy.

For curved workpieces, our ASBR powered rollers can form sheets up to 6 mm thick, ideal for lighter materials and custom-profile applications.

For pipe bending, we utilise a 4″ Staffa hydraulic bender for heavier work, complemented by an O+P Center Junior multifunctional mobile unit for tube bending.

Hydraulic Hose Assembly & Piping

L&M Engineering supplies and fabricates a wide range of hydraulic hoses and rigid pipework assemblies for marine and industrial applications.

We stock an extensive selection of hoses rated up to 5,000 psi, along with over 1,200 hydraulic components including BSP, JIC, metric, ORFS, and SAE fittings. Our inventory also includes stainless steel inserts, ferrules, and a comprehensive range of adaptors.

All hoses are made to order using 2x Techmaflex EVO crimping and swaging machines, allowing us to assemble hoses of any length, configuration, or material specification to meet customer needs.

For rigid pipework, we utilise the O+P Center Junior multifunctional mobile unit, enabling us to carry out all operations required for hydraulic tube processing — including cutting, internal and external deburring, bending, DIN 2353 ring pre-assembly, and 37° flaring. This unit is suitable for stainless steel (AISI 316 Ti) and carbon steel (ST 37.4) tubing, handling diameters from 6 mm to 42 mm and wall thicknesses up to 4 mm.
